Against its own record

Each figure against its own last 82 sessions

  1. Close 53.67 4th percentile: above 4% of its previous 81 readings near its low
  2. 20-day volatility 4.00% 50th percentile: above 50% of its previous 66 readings

A percentile is the share of the earlier sessions in the window below today's figure (an equal one counts half), so a new high for the period is the 100th. The window is about four months: high for the season, not for the year, and never a fair value or a forecast.

About Rocket Lab

Revised 2026-10-07

What it is

Rocket Lab is a launch and space systems company founded in New Zealand and headquartered in the United States. Its Electron rocket is designed to put small satellites into orbit on dedicated missions, so a customer can choose its own orbit and timing rather than sharing a ride; it flies from launch sites in New Zealand and Virginia. A suborbital version is used for hypersonic and other defence testing. The company has been developing a larger, medium-lift rocket called Neutron, intended to be partly reusable, to compete for constellation deployment and heavier payloads. Alongside launch, a space systems division builds complete spacecraft and supplies components such as solar arrays, reaction wheels and separation systems to other satellite makers, and it accounts for a large part of revenue.

What drives it

The investment case rests on two businesses with very different risk. Space systems provides revenue from a broadening customer base, including government programmes, and its order backlog gives some visibility. Launch revenue depends on cadence, and the prospect of the larger vehicle shapes how the market values the company far more than current earnings do, so development milestones, test results and changes to the timeline move the shares sharply. The company has generally reported losses while it invests, which makes cash burn, access to capital and share issuance relevant to existing holders. Competition is intense, above all from SpaceX’s much larger launch operation, and also from a field of newer launch providers. Defence and civil space budgets in the US and allied countries feed the order pipeline. Sentiment towards the space sector as a whole often outweighs company-specific news.

How it trades through the day

It trades on Nasdaq during the US regular session, 13:30 to 20:00 UTC in the northern summer and 14:30 to 21:00 UTC in winter, with significant retail and options participation that can produce large intraday swings. Launches are timed by orbital requirements and weather rather than market hours, and a launch from New Zealand can take place during the Asia block, so a mission outcome may be known long before the share next trades. Results have typically come after the US close.

What it tends to move with

It moves with the other listed space companies, including AST SpaceMobile and Intuitive Machines, and, since its listing, SpaceX, whose shares now give the sector a listed reference point. It also has a strong relationship with speculative growth shares more broadly, rising and falling with risk appetite and with interest-rate expectations. Its daily moves are typically several times those of the major indices.

RKLB: questions

What is the price of Rocket Lab today?

RKLB was quoted at $52.60 as of 21:53 UTC on 23 October 2026, up 2.69% over the previous 24 hours. Prices on Kinzan update every five minutes and may be delayed.

How volatile is RKLB?

Its 20-day volatility — the standard deviation of its last 20 daily returns — is 4.00% as of 21:53 UTC on 23 October 2026. That is the size of move RKLB makes on an ordinary day.
