  1. Close 10.91 4th percentile: above 4% of its previous 81 readings near its low
  2. 20-day volatility 4.10% 14th percentile: above 14% of its previous 66 readings

A percentile is the share of the earlier sessions in the window below today's figure (an equal one counts half), so a new high for the period is the 100th. The window is about four months: high for the season, not for the year, and never a fair value or a forecast.

About Intuitive Machines

Revised 2026-10-07

What it is

Intuitive Machines is a Houston-based space company built around access to the Moon. It designs and operates robotic lunar landers that carry instruments and other payloads to the surface for customers, with NASA as the anchor customer through its programme of commercial lunar payload deliveries. It also offers communications and data-relay services for missions operating around the Moon, and engineering services, much of them under government contracts. Revenue comes mainly from contract work rather than from recurring commercial demand. It is a young company in a frontier market, so its prospects depend heavily on the programme decisions of a small number of public-sector customers.

What drives it

Mission outcomes are the biggest single variable. Landing on the Moon remains technically difficult, and each attempt is effectively a binary event for the shares, while also shaping the company’s reputation as a contractor for future work. Contract awards are the second driver: because government programmes make up so much of revenue, decisions about NASA’s lunar exploration priorities, budget allocations and procurement competitions can reprice the company quickly. The broader direction of US space policy, which can shift between administrations and between budget cycles, matters accordingly. Like other early-stage space companies it has relied on raising capital, so cash reserves and dilution are relevant to holders. The share also responds to sentiment towards the space sector as a whole, which can carry it on days without any company-specific news at all.

How it trades through the day

It trades on Nasdaq in the US regular session: 13:30 to 20:00 UTC in summer, 14:30 to 21:00 UTC in winter. Mission events follow orbital mechanics rather than the market calendar, so a landing attempt can fall inside the session, producing extreme intraday volatility, or outside it, in which case the whole reaction is concentrated at the next open. Quarterly results arrive outside regular hours. Retail participation is high, and options activity can be heavy relative to the company’s size.

What it tends to move with

Its closest companions are the other small listed space companies, Rocket Lab and AST SpaceMobile, while the shares of SpaceX, listed since June 2026, are a newer point of reference for the group. NASA budget news affects the whole cohort but this name most directly. Its link to the main indices is weak, and it moves more with speculative growth shares and with risk appetite than with the broad market.
