Against its own record

Each figure against its own last 82 sessions

  1. Close 159.31 88th percentile: above 88% of its previous 81 readings
  2. 20-day volatility 3.61% 55th percentile: above 55% of its previous 66 readings

A percentile is the share of the earlier sessions in the window below today's figure (an equal one counts half), so a new high for the period is the 100th. The window is about four months: high for the season, not for the year, and never a fair value or a forecast.

About SpaceX

Revised 2026-10-05

What it is

SpaceX builds and flies orbital launch vehicles and operates Starlink, a constellation of low-earth-orbit satellites selling broadband to consumers, enterprises, maritime and aviation customers and governments. Reusable boosters brought its launch costs and turnaround times down far enough that it carries a large share of the world’s orbital payload, including crewed missions and national-security launches. A substantial part of its own launch capacity is consumed putting up its own satellites, which makes the two businesses tightly linked rather than merely adjacent. Class A common stock began trading on the Nasdaq Global Select Market on 12 June 2026.

What drives it

Starlink is the recurring-revenue engine, so subscriber growth, the revenue earned per subscriber across consumer and the higher-value enterprise and government tiers, and the cost of building and replacing satellites are the figures that matter most to the valuation. The launch business supplies contracted, lumpier revenue, concentrated in government customers whose procurement runs on political timetables, so contract awards and programme delays move the shares in steps rather than smoothly. Development of the larger next-generation vehicle is a capital commitment whose milestones are public and widely watched, and test outcomes have an outsized effect on sentiment relative to their near-term financial consequence. Spectrum rights, orbital-debris regulation and market access in individual countries set the boundaries on how far the network can grow. Concentration of control and the public profile of its founder are governance factors that have mattered to comparable listings.

How it trades through the day

Trading runs in the US cash session, 13:30 to 20:00 UTC. Two things follow from how recently it listed. There is not yet a long daily record, so Kinzan’s volatility figures for it describe a short history and should be read with that in mind rather than compared directly with an instrument carrying decades of data. And a newly listed share passes through scheduled supply events as lock-up restrictions on pre-listing holders expire, which are known dates capable of producing volume and price effects unrelated to the business.

What it tends to move with

It is its own instrument more than it is a member of a group. The nearest listed comparisons are the smaller space and satellite companies, though it differs from all of them in having a large operating consumer subscription business, and its sensitivity to government budget news is shared with the defence primes.
