A percentile is the share of the earlier sessions in the window below today's figure (an equal one counts half), so a new high for the period is the 100th. The window is about four months: high for the season, not for the year, and never a fair value or a forecast.

About ASML
Revised 2026-10-07What it is
ASML is a Dutch company that makes the machines chipmakers use to project circuit patterns onto silicon. It is the only commercial producer of extreme-ultraviolet systems, without which the most advanced logic and memory chips cannot be made at scale. It also sells deep-ultraviolet systems, the workhorse for less critical layers and older processes, along with metrology and inspection equipment, and earns a steady stream from servicing the installed base. The primary listing is in Amsterdam; the symbol here is the Nasdaq line, New York registry shares that each correspond to one ordinary share.
What drives it
ASML sits upstream of everyone, so its fortunes follow chipmakers’ capital budgets rather than chip sales, and those budgets lag and amplify the demand cycle. Orders and backlog have historically been watched most closely, given the long lead times. Customer concentration is high: a short list of foundries, logic makers and memory producers buys nearly everything, so a delay at one leading-edge fab shows up in the outlook. Export controls are structural. Dutch licensing rules, shaped by US policy, keep its most advanced systems out of China, and how much Chinese demand for the less advanced tools survives successive tightening has repeatedly moved the shares. The next generation of extreme-ultraviolet machines, with finer resolution and a much higher price per unit, is the longer-term growth question.
How it trades through the day
The two lines trade in different blocks. Amsterdam opens in the London block, at 07:00 UTC in summer and 08:00 UTC in winter; the Nasdaq line follows in the New York block, 13:30 to 20:00 UTC in summer and 14:30 to 21:00 UTC in winter. Results are published early in the European morning near the start of each reporting season, so Amsterdam reacts first and the Nasdaq line opens onto that verdict. The dollar-euro rate adds movement between the two lines.
What it tends to move with
It is the bellwether for semiconductor equipment and moves with the US makers of deposition, etch and inspection tools and with its European equipment peers. TSMC’s capital-expenditure guidance is among the most important single inputs. In Europe it is one of the heaviest weights in the regional benchmarks, so its moves register visibly in the Dutch index and the Euro Stoxx 50.
ASML: questions
What is the price of ASML today?
ASML was quoted at $1,571.80 as of 21:53 UTC on 23 October 2026, up 0.72% over the previous 24 hours. Prices on Kinzan update every five minutes and may be delayed.
How volatile is ASML?
Its 20-day volatility — the standard deviation of its last 20 daily returns — is 1.93% as of 21:53 UTC on 23 October 2026. That is the size of move ASML makes on an ordinary day.
Is today's move in ASML unusual?
Today's move is +0.4σ — the 24-hour change divided by its own 20-day volatility. That is an entirely ordinary session. Readings beyond ±2σ are uncommon for any instrument.
What does ASML move with?
Over the last 60 sessions of daily returns its closest relationship has been with TSM, at a correlation of +0.76. Correlations change over time and do not imply that one instrument causes the other to move.
When does ASML move the most?
Over the last 24 hours the New York session (13:00–22:00 UTC) carried about 52% of its movement. Kinzan splits the day into three contiguous UTC blocks — Asia, London and New York — so every hour is counted exactly once.
What is ASML?
ASML builds the lithography machines that print circuit patterns onto silicon wafers and is the only supplier of the extreme-ultraviolet systems the most advanced chips depend on.
