Interest rates are the reason a currency trends for months rather than hours: money moves towards the currency that pays more to hold it, so the gap between two countries' yields does more to explain a pair's direction than any single day's news. The short end, here the 13-week bill, tracks what the market expects the central bank to do next; the 10-year and 30-year carry expectations for growth and inflation further out. The four yields are quoted as percentages, so a move from 4.00 to 4.10 is ten basis points — which is how this page reports it. That is a deliberate departure from the rest of the site, where a move is a percentage change, because a percentage change of a percentage is a number nobody trades on. The three futures quote a price instead and move inversely to the yields: when the 10-year yield rises, the 10-year note future falls. Both are shown because each is the clearer read in different company — the yield against a currency, the future against other prices.
