Kinzan MCP: a trading AI assistant for Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor

Revised 2026-10-02

Kinzan MCP turns the AI assistant you already use — Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client — into a trading research assistant that answers from live market data. Add one URL and it can look up prices, moves, volatility, correlations, currency strength and the economic calendar across forex, gold, crypto and indices. It is free, needs no API key, and every figure comes from Kinzan's own measurements rather than the model's memory.

The server: one URL

Add this address to any client that accepts a remote MCP server. It speaks Streamable HTTP and needs no authentication.

https://kinzan.io/api/mcp/

With or without the trailing slash, it works the same. Choose no authentication if your client asks — there is nothing to sign in to. Setup for each client is below.

Why a chatbot needs live data for markets

Ask ChatGPT or Claude what gold is doing and, without a data source, it answers from training data that is months old — confidently, and wrong. Markets move every few minutes; a remembered price is a wrong price. Kinzan MCP gives the assistant something to look up instead: the same measurements every Kinzan page shows, each with the time it was measured. When a market is closed it says so, and an unmeasured value comes back as unknown, never as a flat 0%.

And when a chart says it better than a paragraph, the assistant gets the Kinzan page to send you to — the instrument's chart with indicators, the two-market comparison, the full ranking.

What you can ask a trading AI assistant

A forex AI assistant

Ask which currency is strongest today and across how many pairs, why a pair moved and in which session, or what the week's central-bank and data releases are.

  • “Which currency is strongest today?”
  • “Why did EUR/USD move, and was it the London or New York session?”
  • “What's on the forex calendar this week?”

On Kinzan: Forex · Currency strength · Euro / US Dollar · Economic calendar

Gold, silver and metals

Ask how gold compares with silver this month, whether a metal's move is unusual for it, or what it has been moving with.

  • “How has gold done against silver this month?”
  • “Is today's move in gold unusual?”
  • “What does gold move with?”

On Kinzan: Metals · Gold · Gold vs Silver

A crypto AI assistant

Ask what is leading crypto today, how Bitcoin compares with Ethereum over the quarter, or whether Bitcoin has been trading like the Nasdaq.

  • “What's moving most in crypto today?”
  • “Bitcoin vs Ethereum over the last quarter?”
  • “Is Bitcoin moving with the Nasdaq 100?”

On Kinzan: Crypto · Bitcoin · Bitcoin vs Ethereum · Bitcoin vs Nasdaq 100

Indices, oil and commodities

Ask how the S&P 500 compares with the Nasdaq 100, what crude is doing, or whether today is a big day across the whole board.

  • “S&P 500 vs Nasdaq 100 this week?”
  • “What's moving in commodities?”
  • “Is today unusual across markets?”

On Kinzan: Indices · Commodities · S&P 500 vs Nasdaq 100 · WTI Crude Oil vs Brent Crude Oil · Risk dial

What an answer looks like

The assistant leads with the answer, quotes each figure with when it was measured, and — where it helps — ends with one line that takes you to the page with the full picture, such as “Get a better picture, with the live chart and indicators, on Kinzan:” followed by the comparison or instrument page. It credits the numbers to Kinzan, so you know where to find them again.

How to connect it

Claude (web and desktop)

In Settings, open Connectors and choose to add a custom connector. Name it Kinzan and paste the server address above. Custom connectors depend on your Claude plan; on a plan without them, use the desktop bridge further down.

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http kinzan https://kinzan.io/api/mcp/

ChatGPT

Where your plan allows custom connectors (in the apps and connectors settings, under developer mode), create one with the server address above and no authentication.

Cursor

In ~/.cursor/mcp.json, or .cursor/mcp.json in a project:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "kinzan": {
      "url": "https://kinzan.io/api/mcp/"
    }
  }
}

VS Code

In .vscode/mcp.json:

{
  "servers": {
    "kinzan": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://kinzan.io/api/mcp/"
    }
  }
}

Clients that only run local servers

A client that can only start a local process (older desktop apps, for example) can reach Kinzan through the mcp-remote bridge, which needs Node.js. In the client's MCP configuration:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "kinzan": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "mcp-remote",
        "https://kinzan.io/api/mcp/"
      ]
    }
  }
}

The lookups it gets

  • Market snapshot — the whole board: how many markets are up and down, the risk dial, the market read
  • Movers by lens — the strongest and weakest within a lens — currencies, metals, crypto, commodities, majors, surprise
  • Instrument — one market in full: price, 24-hour move, its own volatility, which session it moved in, and why
  • Instruments covered — everything Kinzan covers, by asset class
  • Correlations — what a market moves with, and what it has stopped moving with
  • Currency strength — which currency is doing the work, rather than which pair moved
  • Market stress — how unusual today is across the whole board
  • Market themes — the macro themes Kinzan reads in the tape
  • Economic calendar — upcoming economic releases
  • Kinzan pages — the Kinzan pages on a topic
  • Compare two markets — two markets side by side, with their correlation and the comparison chart

Research, not advice: the same rules as Kinzan AI

The server sends your assistant the rules Kinzan AI follows, and every lookup is built to make them the easy path. It describes what the data shows and does not tell you what to buy, sell or hold, or where a price is going — it is not a trading bot or a signal service. See the disclaimer. Every figure is meant to come from a lookup, with the time it was measured; an unmeasured value is "no data", never zero; and it names only the instruments Kinzan covers. How each figure is calculated is in the methodology.

It reaches Kinzan and nothing else. There is no trading, account, news or web-search tool behind it, and the only links it hands your assistant are kinzan.io pages.

One honest difference: on this site, Kinzan AI's answers are checked before you see them, and any figure that did not come from a lookup is withheld. Over MCP, your own assistant writes the answer, in your own app, so that check cannot run on it. The data and the rules are the same; how faithfully a given model follows them is the model's. The Kinzan page it links to always has the measured values.

Limits and privacy

Lookups are limited per connection address to 120 an hour — the same allowance as Kinzan AI's thirty questions of up to four lookups each. Kinzan sees the lookups your assistant makes, never your conversation, and does not keep them; the address is held in memory only to apply that limit. Your assistant's own usage is between you and its provider, at their rates.

Questions

What is Kinzan MCP?

A free MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that gives an AI assistant such as Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor live market data from Kinzan — prices, 24-hour moves, volatility, correlations, currency strength, momentum rankings and the economic calendar — so it can answer market questions from measured numbers rather than from memory.

Is it free? Do I need an API key?

It is free, and Kinzan needs no API key and no account. You connect it to an assistant you already use; that assistant's own usage is billed by its provider as usual.

Can ChatGPT or Claude give live market prices on their own?

Not reliably. A model's training data is months old, so a price it remembers is a wrong price. Connected to Kinzan MCP, it looks the figure up instead, and every figure comes back with the time it was measured.

Is this an AI trading bot? Does it give trading signals?

No. It is a research assistant: it describes what the market data shows. It does not tell you what to buy or sell, give entries, exits, targets or position sizes, predict prices, or place trades — there is no trading or account tool behind it.

Which AI assistants work with it?

Any client that supports remote MCP servers: Claude (web, desktop and Claude Code), ChatGPT where custom connectors are available, Cursor, VS Code, and others. Clients that only run local servers can use the mcp-remote bridge.

Which markets does it cover?

The same curated universe as the site: forex pairs, gold, silver and other metals, crypto, commodities such as crude oil and natural gas, and global stock indices. It names only instruments Kinzan covers.

How is it different from Kinzan AI?

Kinzan AI is the assistant on this site, running on a key you supply. Kinzan MCP gives the same lookups and the same rules to the assistant you already use, in your own app. On the site, every figure in an answer is checked before you see it; over MCP your own assistant writes the answer, so that check cannot run.

Where do its links go?

Only to kinzan.io. Where a Kinzan page shows the answer better than text can — an instrument's chart, a two-market comparison, a momentum ranking — the assistant is given that page to send you to.
