The read

UBER's 20-day volatility stands at 1.61% a day, making it a little calmer than most of the stocks Kinzan tracks (their median is 1.81%).

Measured against UBER's own volatility rather than anyone else's, a −2.1σ reading is the kind it has roughly once a month.

It sits near the bottom of its 24-hour range of 66.67–68.94, measured on hourly closes.

The New York block (13:00–22:00 UTC) did most of the work — roughly 82% of the movement over the last 24 hours.

Over the last 60 sessions of daily returns, it has moved most closely with NFLX (+0.46, a moderate relationship).

Its last close is at the 1st percentile of its own last 82 sessions, and its 20-day volatility at the 26th.

Market read: Uber is sliding lower, failing to find support as New York traders continue to offload the stock.

Each figure against its own last 82 sessions

  1. Close 67.62 1st percentile: above 1% of its previous 81 readings near its low
  2. 20-day volatility 1.61% 26th percentile: above 26% of its previous 66 readings

A percentile is the share of the earlier sessions in the window below today's figure (an equal one counts half), so a new high for the period is the 100th. The window is about four months: high for the season, not for the year, and never a fair value or a forecast.

About Uber

Revised 2026-10-07

What it is

Uber operates marketplaces that match people who want something moved with independent workers who move it. Mobility, the ride-hailing business, connects riders with drivers in cities on every inhabited continent. Delivery, under the Uber Eats name, brings restaurant meals, groceries and retail goods. A smaller freight arm serves shippers. The company keeps a share of each booking, its take rate, and has added advertising sold to restaurants and brands plus a membership offering discounts across services. It owns neither the cars nor the kitchens: drivers and couriers supply their own vehicles and are treated in most markets as independent contractors. In China and South-East Asia it exited by selling its operations to local rivals in exchange for stakes in them.

What drives it

Gross bookings, the total value of trips and orders on the platform, set the scale, and adjusted operating profit and free cash flow show how much of it the company keeps. After years of losses the business turned consistently profitable, and the market now judges it on whether bookings growth can be sustained while margins widen. Driver classification is a durable regulatory risk: rules or rulings that give drivers employment rights raise costs. The longer-term debate is autonomous vehicles. Robotaxis could remove the driver cost and enlarge the market, or let their developers bypass Uber altogether; the company has partnered with several autonomous developers to put their vehicles on its network.

How it trades through the day

It trades through the US cash session, 13:30 to 20:00 UTC while the US is on daylight time and 14:30 to 21:00 UTC otherwise. Unlike most large technology companies it has tended to publish results before the open, so the reaction plays out in pre-market dealing and through the opening auction rather than after hours. Autonomous-driving news arrives at any hour, and demonstrations or launch announcements by would-be competitors have produced some of its sharpest single-day moves.

What it tends to move with

Its listed peers are Lyft in US ride-hailing and DoorDash in delivery, and the three often move together on gig-economy regulation and consumer spending data. It also has an unusual relationship with Tesla and with Alphabet, whose Waymo unit is both partner and potential rival: progress at autonomous efforts that might bypass Uber has often weighed on it.

UBER: questions

What is the price of Uber today?

UBER was quoted at $66.70 as of 21:53 UTC on 23 October 2026, down 3.43% over the previous 24 hours. Prices on Kinzan update every five minutes and may be delayed.

How volatile is UBER?

Its 20-day volatility — the standard deviation of its last 20 daily returns — is 1.61% as of 21:53 UTC on 23 October 2026. That is the size of move UBER makes on an ordinary day.

Is today's move in UBER unusual?

Today's move is −2.1σ — the 24-hour change divided by its own 20-day volatility. That is the kind it has roughly once a month. Readings beyond ±2σ are uncommon for any instrument.

What does UBER move with?

Over the last 60 sessions of daily returns its closest relationship has been with NFLX, at a correlation of +0.46. Correlations change over time and do not imply that one instrument causes the other to move.

When does UBER move the most?

Over the last 24 hours the New York session (13:00–22:00 UTC) carried about 82% of its movement. Kinzan splits the day into three contiguous UTC blocks — Asia, London and New York — so every hour is counted exactly once.

What is Uber?

Uber runs ride-hailing, food-delivery and freight marketplaces across many countries, earning a cut of each trip or order rather than owning the vehicles that fulfil them.
